The
Jeff Bowe situation
Update: 12/06/08: There
will be a statement appearing here with the next few days with regards
to Bowe but we see he has been posting about us in the forum yet again.
Once again he demonstrates his ignorance by repeating facts from our
own website in a way that suggests that he has uncovered some
conspiracy when in fact he has simply read our pages; as any visitor
can.
Given
that Chris Farmer gave him all this information some 12 days ago and
told him to read the site we find it quite astonishing that it should
take him 12 days to read 24 half pages. Mr Farmer has already
demonstrated that Bowe cannot read Tibetan but if he can only manage to
read 2 half pages per day we would have to question his ability to read
English.
What
is wrong with Bowe? He consistently "discovers" information that is
actually in plain view for anyone to read and then indulges in his
"speculations" and pathetic attempts at sarcasm.
Our advice to Bowe - Get a life.
If you continue to harass Tibetan Way we will pursue you to the full extent of the law.
Update 31/05/08: Here we are two days after our last update and nothing much has changed really.
Postings to the Rick Ross forum are still disappearing for various reasons.
Bowe,
in addition to removing all comments from his blogs and preventing any
more being added has now edited his own postings in his blogs. Posts
that were there and demonstrated his complete lack of knowledge about
Tibetan culture have been removed in a Stalinesque attempt to rewrite
history. So he has banned free speech and is now busily rewriting the
past; all of which suggests that he has far more in common with Tibet's
enemies than he does with Tibet or the Tibetan people.
So the weekend question for Bowe is:
What is your interpretation of the phrase 'free speech'?
In
the interests of genuine free speech we have posted all of Mr Farmer's
postings to the forum today including the ones that have disappeared.
For the sake of clarity and to avoid too much scrolling we are now
separating out these pages so Mr Farmer's postings from today, 31/05/08
are here and his postings of 28/5/08 which were removed from Bowe's
blog are here. We will add all of his older postings at a later date
and also introduce a separate menu system in this area of the site to
ease navigation of what is, quite clearly, going to expand into a large
area.
We are also, as promised, working on a system that will
allow readers to comment on this situation and we will keep you
informed of our progress; hopefully it will be here in the reasonably
near future. In the meantime many thanks for the numerous emails we
have received offering support in this difficult and unpleasant time.
Update 29/05/08:
As we support free speech, when we first considered setting up this
area we were going to use blogging software. At the last moment we
decided against this because
1) Bowe removed Mr Farmer's comments from his blogs and reconfigured
his blogs so that only his followers could post comments.
2) We do not want genuine posters being harassed and intimidated by
people like Bowe.
We
will, later today, be examining a number of potential solutions to this
situation and hopefully within a few days we will have a system in
place
that will facilitate objective and mature discussion in this area.
We will be in meetings for the rest of the day so will not be able to
add any further information here today.
However we do have our daily question for Jeff Bowe.
Should
we refer to you as Mr Jeff Bowe or Ms Denise Foley? You clearly have
identity issues and we would not wish to cause confusion by referring
to you by the incorrect name / gender.
We
have discovered that since 23/5/08 this website has been the subject of
untrue statements in the Rick Ross Forum and on a number of blogs
operated by a person named Jeff Bowe. These same people have also
maliciously attacked one of our consultants, Mr Chris Farmer, for
absolutely no reason.
We
are currently in discussions with our legal advisors to decide the most
appropriate course of action and we will defend ourselves and Mr Farmer
to the full extent of the law.
We
were not aware of any of this until Tuesday, 27/5/08 when our offices
reopened following the Bank Holiday. However Mr Farmer has been
attempting to defend himself and us via both the forum and Bowe's
blogs. Unfortunately many of Mr Farmer's postings to the forum have not
appeared and Bowe has this afternoon removed Mr Farmer's comments from
his blogs. As a result it appears in the forum and blogs that neither
we nor Mr Farmer have defended ourselves against the allegations that
have been leveled at us.
Clearly
the people involved do not tolerate free speech or accept the rights of
others to defend themselves. A strange standpoint from people who
present themselves as defending Tibetan culture.
In
order to provide independent and objective readers with a balanced view
of these "discussions" we will be presenting all of Mr Farmer's
comments here cross referenced to the original forum and blog posts to
which they refer. This will take some time to so for now we are only
presenting the comments that Mr Farmer posted today, 28/5/08, and which
Bowe obviously felt were far too close to exposing the truth about his
decidedly questionable knowledge of Tibet and Bon.
Before
presenting those comments we would ask Jeff Bowe one question regarding
his objectivity and the validity of his apparent researches into Tibet.

Turning to Mr Farmer's
comments of Bowe's blog; these are presented in reverse chronological
order.

really are one of the saddest people that I've ever come across.
I
told you that I would report back to you regarding my meeting with the
owners of Tibetan Way yesterday. I also told you that due to pressures
of work I would not be able to do that until late Tuesday / early
Wednesday UK time and here I am at 9:18 UK time writing this. It would
have been earlier but you've really stirred up a hornet's nest and I've
been on the 'phone since 7:00 this morning. (It is now 12:14 when I
post as a result of other issues that I have had to deal with)
Despite
the foregoing you have posted yet another attack on Tibetan Way on your
blog rather than wait for my report - have you really got nothing
better to do with your time? If you have so much free time at your
disposal I would strongly suggest that you engage in some intensive
Vajrasattva practice - I presume you know what that is - which might
rid you of some of your negative attitudes.
I've
already had Blogger.com take down one of your malevolent blogs relating
to Tibetan Way - hopefully the rest of your innuendo ridden blogs will
disappear before long as well.
Before
they do let's go through your latest posting.
Paragraph
1: Firstly you attack Christopher Hansard and mention "a number of very
serious questions concerning that individual." Unfortunately that is
all they are - questions. No one has produced any hard evidence to
support the allegations being made against this individual and your
aggressive and intimidating behaviour appears to have driven away
people from that forum who may have had such evidence.
I
have now read the entire forum in great detail. The first 15 pages
contain reasonable and mature discussion of what may well be very
serious issues. Unfortunately on page 16 the great Jeff Bowe makes his
first appearance and the forum then gradually descends into a mass of
vitriolic name calling and unfounded allegations with the exception of
a few honourable posters who have attempted to take the forum back to
its initial concerns rather than becoming embroiled in your personal
vendetta against Christopher Hansard.
Anyone
that does not agree with you is attacked mercilessly and vilified until
they are driven away. Your initial postings came across as reasonably
erudite and you have built up in people's minds that you are a person
of great learning and knowledge about both Bon and Tibet. Many people
on the forum have seen through your postings and asked you to provide
some evidence of how you acquired this knowledge and questioned your
motives in hounding Christopher Hansard. You have ignored all such
requests but continue to attempt to demonstrate your knowledge.

2: An advert for one of your other blogs. It is interesting to note
that in the forum rather than directing users directly to my comments
here you are re-routing them via that other blog. Do you really think
you can drive your pages up the search engines by such amateurish
tactics?

3: The same boring repetition of comments you've already made in your
blogs and in the forum ending with a comment regarding "fluency in
reading and writing Tibetan." Given your questions of 27/5/08 in the
forum regarding my use of the name Shedrup and your suggestion that
Shedrup is a "supposedly Tibetan sounding name" it is quite clear to
me, as I have already explained in my reply on this blog, that you
actually can't read or write Tibetan and you have little knowledge of
Tibetan culture. Anyone with even the slightest iota of the knowledge
you claim to have would know that Shedrup / Shedrub is a common refuge
name. As you clearly don't know that and don't trust anything I say I
suggest you use your enormous investigative abilities and take a look
at

which gives a very long list of Dharma / Refuge names with their
translations - translations that you clearly need.

4: You state:

I
have repeatedly explained to you over the past few days the reason for
the delay in obtaining a reply from the owners of Tibetan Way. Either
you are ignoring my explanations in order to pursue your vindictive
witch-hunt or, in addition to being unable to read Tibetan, you also
have problems with the English language so let me explain this to you
yet again in language that even you may be able to understand.
There
is a place known as the real world where many normal people, who do not
have the luxury of sitting at home concocting wild theories, go to
something called work. They are paid money for this work and use that
to support themselves and others. There is also something called a week
which has 7 days. Times have changed but many people still only go to
work for 5 days each week and those days are called weekdays. The
remaining 2 days are called the weekend and are comprised of Saturday
and Sunday and most people do not go to work on those days.
I
hope you have followed thus far but you really will have to pay
attention with the next bit. There are also days called bank holidays -
I won't confuse you by explaining their origins - and many of these are
on the day called Monday which comes after Sunday. On those days many
people do not go to work so when this happens it means that they have
what is known as a long weekend and this has just happened in England.
I
work as a freelance consultant primarily in the fields of I.T. and I
have what are called clients. They hire me to do work for them and then
they pay me. Occasionally I may have lunch or a drink with them but
even then we are still discussing work - in most cases my clients do
not become close personal friends but remain business associates. As a
result of that I have their office contact details but not their
personal details so I cannot contact them when they are not in their
offices.

I
have repeatedly explained to you and the forum that I was not aware of
the allegations regarding Tibetan Way in the forum and your blogs until
last Saturday; we have had a long weekend and so I was unable to
contact the owners of their site until Tuesday morning - yesterday -
when they returned to their offices.
I
hope that has all sunk in as I really can't conceive of a more
simplistic manner of explaining this to you.
Returning
to your demands for information and your behaviour over the past few
days that behaviour has turned out to be self-defeating. When I spoke
with my clients yesterday morning they initially regarded this matter
as something of a joke and were inclined to join in by supplying you
with a wealth of information about themselves. Unfortunately by the
time I met with them late yesterday afternoon they, and their advisors,
had read through the forum and your blogs and no longer regarded your
rantings as a joke.
Having
seen that I had provided you, and the forum, with all the information
that I possibly could without breaching client confidentiality they
then saw that rather than accepting that information in a mature manner
you had used it to engage in a vendetta against me personally; asking
ever more intrusive questions in a demanding, harassing and
intimidating fashion.
As
a result they will not be providing you with any information - they
will however be producing a formal statement later this week which will
be posted to your blog. If it is possible to post it to the forum then
it will appear there as well. They will also, at some point in the next
few days, be producing a disclaimer which will appear on the Tibetan
Way website.
So
once again your truly appalling behaviour will prevent the users of the
forum who have genuine concerns from receiving the information that
they have requested. Had you not interfered in this situation the
information would have been provided so you have only yourself and your
spurious accusations to blame for this. I hope you are satisfied with
that.
I
have seen legal documentation that clearly demonstrates that there are
no copyright issues whatsover regarding the Tibetan Way website or the
products sold there.
I
will be having a lengthy meeting with my clients this coming Thursday
after which statements and disclaimers will be forthcoming. The reason
for this further delay is that their advisors need more time to
complete their investigations. Having said which they have already
presented me with information regarding you which I will be reading in
full later today. An initial scan through it does suggest that many
authoritative figures have serious doubts about the veracity of your
supposed research and learning. No doubt I will return to this issue
when they have completed their enquiries.
