Sakya
The
founder of the Sakya tradition was Khon
Könchok Gyelpo (1034 - 1102) who founded the Sakya (Grey Earth)
monastery in 1073 in Southern Tibet. The head of the Sakya lineage has
come from the Khon family since then to the present day head - His
Holiness Sakya Trizin.
