Gelug
The Gelug lineage was founded by Je
Tsongkhapa
(1357-1419). The
central teachings of the Gelug School are Lamrim, or the "Stages of the
Path", based on the teachings of the Indian master Atisha (circa 11th
century) and the systematic cultivation of the view of emptiness.
In
the West the largest Gelug organisation is the Foundation
for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition. (FPMT)
http://www.fpmt.org/
The
FPMT was founded by Lama Thubten Yeshe and the FPMT has a separate
teachings site - the Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archive. http://www.lamayeshe.com/
The
site has many useful teachings and a section where one can download
entire books of teachings for free in the Acrobat format.
The
largest FPMT centre in the UK is Jamyang
http://www.jamyang.co.uk/
Jamyang
is housed in what was the last high security court in the UK. The
shrine room is what used to be the actual courtroom and the statue of
the Buddha sits beneath an impressive wooden canopy that once stood
over the court judge.
