Welcome to Tibetan Way
At
Tibetanway we seek to bring the cultural richness and diversity of
Tibet to the world. Over the last 50 years the culture of Tibet has
spread across the globe and in this the internet age society is
becoming more aware of the vast knowledge contained within the Tibetan
culture. Our aim at Tibetanway is to bring together all of the Tibetan
resources and provide a single focus point for those interested in the
culture and life-care .

For centuries Tibetans have
lived with nature, always seeking to learn and understand its nuances
and rhythms.
Tibetan
medicine is a science, art and philosophy that provides a comprehensive
approach to life-care. In this the image of the Medicine Buddha is a
typical example, contemplation upon the face of the Buddha is said to
aid the trouble mind, yet in the Buddha's hand there is the fruit of
the myrobalm tree (Prunus cerasifera). The fruit of this tree
was
used to prepare elixirs of health. The myrobalam contains a remarkable
amount of vitamin C and associated antioxidants. A thousand years
before the western world was aware Tibetan doctors were prescribing
vitamin C as part of a health tonic.
We
use the term life-care because the system of medical practice produced
by the Tibetan medical profession encompasses the entire persons mind
body and spirit. It is a science because its principles are based in a
systematic and logical framework using an understanding of the body and
its relationship to the environment. It is an art because it uses
diagnostic techniques based on the creativity, compassion, insight,
subtlety and of the medical practitioner. It is a philosophy because it
embraces the key Buddhist principles of altruism, karma and ethics. In
essence the Tibetan medical system applied anatomy, physiology and
psychology to the whole person centuries before the birth of Sigmund
Freud.
A
general taboo against exploiting the environment was a direct result of
the Buddhist inheritance and belief about the inter-relationship
between all plants, animals, as well as the "non-living elements of
natural world". This interrelationship is reflected in the entire ethos
of Tibetanway products. The ecosystem of the Himalayas is in a very
delicate state of balance. At Tibetanway we do not take plants or herbs
from the wild, this only adds to the destruction of natural
environment. We use purpose grown and wherever possible
organic
sources for our formulations.
